At various stages in life, we may face problems that cause us emotional difficulty.  Professional therapy provides a safe, non-judgemental space in which you can explore thoughts, beliefs, feelings and behaviours that affect your life negatively.  With the support of your therapist, you can explore the areas in your life which you are finding difficult, gain understanding, develop coping skills and find constructive ways to initiate change.  For some, the therapy room may provide the time and space to tell the story that may not be told to family or friends.  For others, engagement in therapy is an important part of ongoing self-care and mental well-being.

Marie works with clients experiencing issues such as:

Depression

Relationship difficulties

Work/Study related issues

Stress

Addiction

Anxiety

Bereavement/Loss

Self-esteem issues

Family/Parenting concerns

Obsessive Compulsive Disorders

The conversation around mental wellness has never been more open and an increasing number of employers are actively support the wellbeing of their staff.  Many companies offer an Employee Assistance Program (EAP) which is a route for seeking confidential support.  If you are a member of a corporate private health insurance plan, your insurer may have an EAP in place.  EAP programs provide employees, and often their family members, with a limited number of free counselling sessions. Marie is registered with EAP provider, Workplace Options.

Personal therapy is a key component of training for those embarking on a career in counselling and psychotherapy.  Self-knowledge is crucial to the process of therapy.  Through engagement in personal therapy you can gain an awareness and understanding of your own thoughts, feelings, beliefs, behaviours, strengths and vulnerabilities.  This facilitates personal development and an increased level of empathy when working with clients.  Engagement in the therapeutic process also greatly enhances and personalises the theoretical element of your training.  Marie works with clients who are about to embark on, or are currently in the process of, training in the field of counselling and psychotherapy.
